these are 3 simple yet bold fonts i have chosen to try as my title on my magazine front cover, im going to put a coloured box round them all and try them out on my front cover.

i took this off the front of a kerrang magazine, i think i will use this sort of thing on my front cover where the main piece of text for the image on the magazine is a different colour and really stands out from the darker background colours.

this is the sort of style i want to go with for magazine front cover where the hair/picture takes over most of the background as i think it looks really good and less text is needed.

this  is a simple plan of my own double page spread, it will be half image and the other half colulms of text, i think i will have it as an interview for a singer or a band and have a large title to explain what the interview is about. i will also use quotes from the text and enlarge them to make them stand out as the most important things said.

this is a rough plan of my contents page, i was this less chaotic than my front page and it to be mainly filled with big bold text of what is in the magazine. as i think having a bold cover and contents is too much and does not look as good. i will use quite dark colours to go with the genre of magazine i am basing it on and a few bright colours such as red/yellow to make main things stand out.

this is a rough plan of my front cover of my own music magzine, i defoinatly want my main image in the middle or covering the whole front cover being part of the background but i will work that out and see what looks best with my title. i will fill the front cover with a lot of text so it is eye catching.

i like this double page spread alot, the use of swirly against the bold font looks really good, also the use of neautral colours looks really good and the only colours really being on the picture itself. i think i am defoinatly having my double page spread split in two, one half being picture and other half being text as this seems to be pretty much how everyone is set out.

this Q double page spread is very eye catching from the very large L that
has been used behind the text which is usually a letter associated with the person that is featured on the page. the black and white picture really contrasts well with the bright red L. although it looks effective the large letter in the background may be obscuring the text and some readers may find it hard to read i will have to take this into consideration.

now onto double page spreads, this one from kerrang really caught my eye with the huge title at the top right hand side which text is very similar to that of the title  on the cover page which i thought was very good as the readers would eventually recognise that font and associate it with the kerrang magazine. i also like how its half picture but mainly text in neat colulms. the one quote or slogan taken from the text is an idea id like to use on my own double page spread.

this nme contents page reminds me of the kerrang style, the many rows of texts and more than one picture, i quite like the style and it is one i may use on my own. the bold title its probably the first thing you read, and the bold outline of each title of the features within the magazine. the use of yellow is very minimul which makes ou drawn to it which is used cleverly.

this Q contents page is is very symplistic, there is not alot of features to annalyse but having saying that if i was to have alot on my front cover and do very little on my contents page it would give the readers a rest from the chaos and would also make my front cover quite recognisable/easy to spot on a shelf. the picture is well used and only been cut off in a small section by some of the features inside the magazine. the colours are plain but they stick to the traditional red from the logo.

this is an kerrang contents page, the use of colours is different to the front cover, they use yellow for main parts to read which your eyes are instanstly drawn to which is a clever aspect. there is also not as many pictures used but a whole load of text to tell the readers some of the main things featured in the magazine and what they will mostly be attracted to, to read. there is nearly always an advertisment at the bottom corner which will make readers want to buy it  as they could win prizes. there is alot of apects here that i could use for my magazine.

i have been looking at front covers for ideas and like this one as the big bold fonts which kerrang use really stand out to me. the title is edgy and broken which really goes with the genre of music the magazine is representing and that the main image can cover part of it and it still be recognisable on a shelf. also the image looks good too, the way all the band members are facing directly to the camera coming across rebelious. the use of the white and red on the dark background also looks really good and stands out alot which i could use on my own music magazine.

i also looked at a Q front cover. i like the use of one person as the main image and the fact that is the only image on the whole cover. the title really stands out the red against the plain white background, the image looks very mysteerious and the hand on the mouth makes her look shy even though she is facing the camera she is not head on and sort of turned to the side. the white text over her hair is a really good aspect too as it looks very good, i also like the way the text down the side has been placed with some being bigger than others.

this nme cover really caught my eye with the red hair making the background stand out from the text, also that there is not alot of text used which looks good. i like the black writing as it really stands out from the plain colours around it which are used. the picture used looks really, i was thinking about doing an extreme close up for my front cover as it looks very effective and can be used for the background and not always alot of text needed to be used.

for my music magazine i will be designing im going to look at other magazines i like to read for ideas and the style of music i will be basing it on. i like the way kerrang have quite a full on front cover so it is very recognisable on a shelf to frequent readers, and i also like the way Q magazine have their title as just one letter that is bold in the top corner which is simple and effective. the genre i am basing it on is 'alternative rock' type music.

this is my completed college magazine front cover, i like the picture as it fits in well with the use of the blue, as its quite a neutral colour, i decided this as i didnt want it too be to loud and in your face, the title is eye catching enough. i took this picture when i was out with a friend, you can see part of a road and people may think this is outside of college which would work well. the use of the orange also works well as your eyes are drawn to the different colour on the page, and wonder what the story will tell us, so we want to read it.

this is my finished college contents page, i kept it to minumul colour as i didnt want
it getting over cluttered with colours and text making it hard to read, i used a couple of pictures to explain some of the page numbers which is simple yet quite effective.
this is a plan of my college front cover page, i kept it as simple as possible so it was not too over crowded but at the same time was still eye catching. I plan to use bold text, and suitable information to make my magazine appealing for students to buy.

this is the plan for my college magazine contents page, this will also be quite simple, i may change it up a little so it is not to crowded, space the numbers and texts out a bit more.
